Frequently Asked Questions

Open the group, then tap the dashed "+" tile in the Members row at the top — you can add an existing friend or create a new member. To invite someone on a different device, open the group menu (three dots, top right) and tap "Share group" — you can send an invite link, a QR code, or hand off the one-time invite code.

On the Groups list, "Owned" is groups you created — you can edit them, manage members, and delete them. "Invited" is groups someone else owns that you joined; you can add expenses and settle up, but only the owner can edit or delete the group itself.

Only the owner can rename the group or change its emoji, add or remove members, rotate or disable the invite link, edit or delete any expense (not just the ones they paid for), and delete the group. Everyone in the group — owner included — can add expenses, edit or delete their own, settle up, send reminders, view totals, and share the existing invite. Members can leave whenever they want; the owner can't leave their own group, they need to delete it instead.

When you add an expense, choose who paid and how to split it — equally, by custom amounts, or by percentage. The app automatically calculates who owes whom.

Yes! When adding an expense, tap the currency button next to the amount to choose any world currency. In the group's Totals sheet, expenses are grouped by currency — pick a currency at the top to see its total.

Open the group and find the "Active Debts" section. Tap "Settle up" next to the debt to record the payment and clear the balance.

No — DoSplit only tracks the math. When you tap "Settle up" and record a payment, it just updates the balance to reflect a transfer you already made in real life (cash, bank transfer, Revolut, whatever). The app never touches your money.

Type any amount above your share into "Amount paid" and DoSplit logs the surplus as a refund — the person who used to be owed now owes you the difference. The summary shows a "Surplus" line before you tap "Record", so the reversal is never a surprise.

Tap the bell icon next to a debt in the "Active Debts" section. If the member has an email saved on their profile, you'll get a "Send Email" button that opens your mail app with a friendly pre-filled message — DoSplit doesn't send the email itself, you do.

Yes — tap an expense to edit it, or swipe it left to delete. Tap "Show All" at the top of the expenses section to see every expense in the group.

Deleting a group hides it from your list, but its history sticks around for everyone else in the group — they'll see a note that you removed it and can still read every expense, settlement, and balance. No one can add anything new, but nothing already recorded is lost. To wipe a group's data entirely, reach out to support.

Open the group's menu (three dots, top right) and tap "Leave Group". Your past expenses and settlements stay under your name in the group's history so the balances stay accurate — you just stop seeing the group on your list. Group owners can't leave their own group; they need to delete it instead.

Yes — your groups sync across all your devices automatically when you're signed in. To bring someone else into a group, open the group menu (three dots, top right) and tap "Share group" to send an invite link or QR code.

Go to the Profile tab and tap "Edit Profile" to change your name, email, phone, and avatar emoji. Default currency has its own row on the Profile screen — tap "Default Currency" to pick a different one.

Yes! DoSplit is completely free to use with all features included. No hidden fees, no premium tiers.
